A sensor (3) is used to measure meteorological data in a prescribed cycle. Stored in a memory for a dataset (data file) are the number of days standardised to a standard temperature (standard temperature days DTS), a temperature coefficient and an initial calculation date relating to the relevant plant for which the forecast is to be made. A microprocessor (21) calculates an average daily temperature and a diurnal temperature range from the temperature data, and the standard temperature days using the temperature coefficient, and also the standard temperature days elapsed so far, and forecasts the number of the standard temperature days which the plant still requires, at the standard temperature, for its development, on the basis of the standard temperature days which have elapsed and of the first mentioned standard temperature days and of the development time of the plant using the temperature coefficient from forecast temperature data. <IMAGE> |
