PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize complicated control of a recording head without using a complicated logical circuit by setting a plurality of the reading start addresses of a plurality of housing means storing a plurality of recording element driving patterns and reading the receiving element driving pattern on the basis of the selected reading address to perform recording. SOLUTION: A reading start selector 68 changes over the reading start address from a memory according to the recording mode of a register 67 set on the basis of the data from a CPU 21. An address selector 73 selects one of the reading address signal outputted from an address generating part 7 by the data read trigger signal from a read trigger generating circuit 71 and the address signal from an address bus. A RAM 74 reads a control signal according to the address from the address selector 73 in the supply timing of the inputted data trigger signal to output the same to head driving part 75. By this constitution, recording based on a plurality of recording element driving patterns can be realized by using a plurality of recording heads without using a complicated logical circuit.
