PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject improver giving impact resistance and optical transparency having an improved balance to an amorphous aromatic polyester resin by including a rubbery core, an intermediate stage and an outer shell. SOLUTION: This improver contains (A) about 15 - about 85 pts.wt. of core containing about 40 - about 60 wt.% of a unit derived from a vinyl aromatic monomer, about 20 - about 60 wt.% of a unit derived from 1,3-diene, <= about 10 wt.% of a copolymerizable unit derived from vinyl or vinylidene monomer and <= about 5 wt.% of a monomer for grafting or for crosslinking, (B) about 10 - about 50 pts.wt. of intermediate stage containing a unit derived from about 25 wt.% of a vinyl aromatic monomer and (C) about 5 - about 35 pts.wt. of an outer shell containing about 2 - about 40 wt.% of a unit derived from a hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate, about 60 - about 98 wt.% of a unit derived from a vinyl aromatic monomer, and has about 1.55 - about 1.60 refractive index. |
