PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to simply and rapidly carry out a work for holding and taking out shells and maintaining the shells in a certainly held state. SOLUTION: This cage for intermediately growing shells is installed with a net bag 3 formed in a quadrangular pyramid-like shape and having a cover piece 16 capable of opening and closing its opening at an edge side a frame body 2 having a square-shaped outside frame 5 inserted on the inside bottom of the net bag 3 and connected to the bottom of the net bag 3, and a hanging rope 4 passing through the bottom center of the net bag 3 and the top of the quadrangular part and capable of hanging the net bag 3. The cover piece 16 is constituted to overlap on the side of the quadrangular pyramid-like part of the net bag 3 in an overlapped state with standing up at both sides of the quadrangular part.
