PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an excellent image without generating image memory even by using a low-resistance contact transfer material by finding out relation between printing duty and the image memory and optimizing relation between the resistance of a roller and a transfer current. SOLUTION: The relation of the transfer current which does not cause the image memory regardless of the printing duty at the time of changing the resistance of the contact transfer material is actually measured, so that an upper limit to be satisfied by the transfer current is expressed as an inequality function. When the transfer current is equal to or under a function which is in inverse proportion to the film pressure of a photoreceptive layer and also in proportion to the length in a longitudinal direction on a contact surface and processing speed, it does not cause the image memory regardless of the printing duty, so that the expression of the upper limit in the inequality function obtained by the actual measurement is generalized concerning the length in the longitudinal direction on the contact surface, the processing speed and the film pressure of the photoreceptive layer. Thus, a range to be satisfied by the transfer current concerning the resistance of the contact transfer material, the length in the longitudinal direction on the contact surface, the processing speed and the film pressure of the photoreceptive layer are obtained.
