PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly precisely detect gentle irregularities or a defect such as protrusion existing on the work surface of a body panel or the like even when an area to which anti-corrosive oil and cleaning oil or the like are adhered and an area without any oil coexist on the work surface. SOLUTION: A surface inspecting device is provided with an image processing means 22 for inspecting a defect on a face to be inspected, based on received optical images obtained by CCD cameras 12 and 14, display means 23 for outputting and displaying the information of a defect detected by the image processing means, and control means for controlling a relative angle and a height position between a linear light source and the CCD cameras and the face so that an incident angle and a reflecting angle can be made always constant. In this case, the image processing means 22 is provided with an area recognizing means for recognizing areas whose reflectivity is different on the face, based on the received optical images obtained by the CCD cameras and a division and binarization processing means for dividing and binarizing the areas whose reflectivity is different, based on the output information of the area recognizing means. |
