PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To utilize a compound for identification, separation and purification of D-mannose as an affinity chromatography carrier in an industrially large scale and under a severe conditions, by immobilizing a benzonaphthacene qui none compound represented by a specific formula to a polymer carrier by a covalent bond. SOLUTION: As a legand having a D-mannose identification bonding performance, a benzonaphthacene quinone compound represented by a formula (where R1 represents a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group or a hydroxyl lower alkyl group; R2 represents a hydroxyl group, an amino group or a mono- or di-lower alkylamino group; R3 represents a hydrogen atom, a no-sulfurized or a sulfurized D xylosyl or D-glycosyl group; and R4 represents a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group or a D-xylosyl group) is used and a D-mannose identification affinity carrier which is immobilized to a physical and chemically stable polymer carrier by a covalent bond is obtained. Thereby, a highly stable embodiment can be selected regarding all of the legands, the carrier and the immobilizing bond.
