PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reproducing resolution by narrowing an effective gap length of an MR head and to eliminate positional gap of a permanent bias magnet film for forming a single ferromagnetic-domain arranged at the active part of an MR film and on its right and left. SOLUTION: A lower gap 20 is deposited on a lower shield 18. On the lower gap, an electrically conductive film 64 as lead film and a magnet film 62 forming a permanent bias magnet film, for forming a single ferromagnetic- domain to an MR film 46 are formed through lamination. Leads 30, 31 divided right and left are formed by forming an approximately trapezoidal slot 66 grooving this lead film to the lower gap 20. A magnetic sensor film 28 having the MR film 46 along the slot 66 is deposited, so that the leads 30, 31 divided right and left is connected electrically. The outside end part of the magnetic sensor film 28 is formed on the top surface of the leads 30, 31. An upper gap 32 is deposited on the magnetic sensor film 28. An upper shield 34 is deposited thereon.
