摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nickel hydrogen secondary battery capable of conducting heavy-current discharge. SOLUTION: An electrode group A is constituted with a negative electrode 1 formed by carrying a negative mix mainly comprising a hydrogen storage alloy having the composition represented by LmNixMnyMz (Lm represents a rare earth element whose content is 70-100 wt.%, M represents at least one selected from Co, Al, Fe, and Zr, 3.30<=x<=4.50, 0.01<=y<=0.20, 0.20<=z<=1.70, 4.90<=x+y+z<=5.50) in a current collecting sheet, a separator 3, and a positive electrode 2 formed by carrying a positive mix mainly comprising a nickel compound in a current collector sheet, and the electrode group A is selected in a battery can 5 together with an alkaline electrode to constitute a battery. The hydrogen storage alloy has a BET specific surface area in once crushing after hydrogenation of 0.05-0.20 m2/g at 2-30 deg.C under 5-10 atmospheric pressure, the current collector sheet of the negative electrode 1 has no-opening part at the lower end part 1A, and the non-opening part is connected to the battery can 5 through a current collecting plate 6a.
