PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium in which increase in noise can be suppressed as much as possible, even when the medium is stored for a long period of time, and high durability and corrosion resistance are obtd. SOLUTION: In this magnetic recording medium having a magnetic coating film on one surface of a supporting body, the magnetic coating film contains the following acicular alloy magnetic powder and an inorg. powder having 5 or larger Mohs hardness. The alloy magnetic powder essentially consists of iron and cobalt and has 0.25 μm or smaller major axial length of particle size, 4 to 8 axial for ratio and 8 to 50 wt.% for cobalt-to-iron weight ratio. The total thickness of the magnetic recording medium is controlled so as to be 14 μm or smaller. |
