PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a safety valve to operate with high reliability by preventing uneven distribution of generated gas inside. SOLUTION: In an aluminum electrolytic capacitor B attached with terminal metal fittings, a spiral element holding groove 10 is formed on a cylindrical side face of a metal case 1. The groove 10 projects towards the inside of the metal case 1 to hold a capacitor element 2 at a specified position in the metal case 1. Gas generated with application of abnormally high voltage expands nearly evenly in the metal case along the spiral groove and is not unevenly distributed. As a result, a safety aluminum electrolytic capacitor with a reliably operating safety valve can be obtained.
