PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera by which a subject image is photographed on silver salt film without making a device large-sized and also the subject image is photographed by converting it into an electric signal. SOLUTION: A cartridge having an electronic imaging device to convert the subject image into the electric signal is loaded at the loading part 11 of the camera, and the DX code of the cartridge having the silver salt film is read by a contact 20. Also, in the case that the cartridge having the electronic imaging device is loaded at the loading part 11, it is discriminated whether the cartridge having the electronic imaging device is loaded or not by a communication circuit 21 by communication to be executed through the contact 20.
