PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make diagnosable the soundness of the whole of the transmitter/ receiver system of a reader including an antenna, in a noncontact information transmitting and receiving system provided with a self-diagnostic device diagnosing its own operation of the reader executing a prescribed processing by reading information from a portable information transmitter such as an IC card. SOLUTION: For example, a diagnostic IC card 31 having a constitution nearly similar to a general IC card 21 to transmit a prescribed self-diagnosing information to a reader 11 is installed within the receivable range of the reader 11, to start operation with a control signal transmitted from the data processing circuit 12 of the reader 11, e.g. The reader 11 receives the self-diagnosing information transmitted from the card 31 and self-diagnoses whether the operation of the reader 11 is normal or not based on the received information by a diagnosing part 18'. Since the reader 11 receives the self-diagnosing information by a method similar to transmission/reception to/from a general IC card 21 to self-diagnose based on this received data like this, it is possible to diagnose the soundness of the whole transmitting and receiving system of the reader 11 including an antenna, etc. |
