PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the use of an illegal card caused by forgery such as copying. SOLUTION: This reader reads magnetic information from prescribed piercing areas (E31-E35) where punched holes are perforated in the balance punched hole part E3 of a prepaid card 6 being a processing object and discriminates whether it is matched with punched balance information contained in variable information of the card. When compared information are not matched, the reader inhibits the use of the card. When the compared information are matched, the reader updates balance information in accordance with a consumed amount, perforates the punch hole when the punching of the punch hole is required, records updated balance information in the prescribed punched area where the punched holes are perforated and records magnetic information which is read from the punched area by containing it in variable information. |
