The side separation element (2) of an animal pen consists of a principal body (4) and a fixed support element (5a, 5b). The position of the main body relative to the supports can be adjusted in a direction corresponding to the depth of the pen, by a distance (L) by means of an adjuster (19) and then fixed in that chosen position.
