Air inlet system for an I.C. engine has single suction channels (7) each with a cartridge (9) tilting from the shortest connecting line (10) between two partial sections (11, 12). A separation of the of the single suction channels (7) into two partial sections (11, 12) acts to form the short circuit openeing (8) and thus shorten the suction length to the collection inlet channel (5).
