The method effects the transmission of a message from a phoning telephone subscriber to a phoned telephone subscriber when the latter is temporarily absent. The transmission of message when the receiver is absent at present involves an answering machine or mailbox, on which the phoning subscriber speaks the message to be transmitted. The phoned subscriber here monitors the message and may call back the phoning subscriber.
