PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a workpiece changing device for a machine tool, simple in structure without needing to take account of the lift quantity of a workpiece placing table in piping and wiring for a jig since the lift quantity of the workpiece placing table can be almost eliminated. SOLUTION: A turntable 3 provided with a plurality of workpiece placing tables 2 for placing workpieces W is turned to position the workpiece placing tables 2 in a stand-by position or a machining position. In such a workpiece changing device 1 for a machine tool, a reference coupling 14 to be a positioning reference is disposed in the machining position B, and a workpiece side coupling 15 is provided at the workpiece placing table 2 so as to be adjacent to the reference coupling 14 and to be almost flush with it only when the workpiece placing table 2 is turned into the machining position B. A clamp coupling 16 engaged with both the reference coupling 14 and workpiece side coupling 15 is disposed in the machining position B so as to be vertically movable.
