PURPOSE: A temporary blocking releasing method and receiver having program audience limit function is provided to limit the audience of received program according to the set rating. CONSTITUTION: The temporary blocking releasing method and receiver having program audience limit function comprises: a step setting the temporary releasing function of a blocking mode; a step extracting rating signals from image signals; a step decoding the extracted rating signals to identify the rating; a step comparing the rating of the identified program and a set rating; a step blocking image and voice outputs in case that the rating of the program is over the set rating in the result of the comparing; and a step temporarily releasing the blocking state if a temporary releasing function is selected in the blocking state.
