PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily fit a shift lever without being affected by a handle column structure of each maker by providing an adjusting mechanism adjusting the tension of a select cable in an operation knob. SOLUTION: An adjusting mechanism 4 adjusting the tension of a select cable 16 is provided in an operation knob 1. The adjusting mechanism 4 is slidably inserted into the tube hole 1a of the operation knob 1 under the urging of a spring 6, and it is slidably inserted into the tube hole of a slider 7 temporarily tacked in the operation knob 1 by a removable stopper member 8 inserted into the tip opening of the tube hole 1a. The adjusting mechanism 4 is constituted of an adjusting screw 10 screwed into the screw hole 9b of an adjusting piece 9 formed with a lock section 9a locking the select cable 16 and a position adjusting screw hole 9b to keep a head section seat face in contact with the end face of the slider 7, and it adjusts the position of the adjusting piece 9 against the tube hole 1a of the operation knob 1.
