GEL DERIVED BY EXTENDING GRAFTED ALPHA-OLEFIN-MALEIMIDE CENTIPEDE TYPE POLYMER AND POLYPROPYLENE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a highly damping flexible material. SOLUTION: This method for producing a highly damping centipede type polymer comprises reacting a poly(α-olefin-co-maleimide) in an amount of about 50 to about 99 wt.% with a maleated polyalkylene in an amount of about 1 to about 50 wt.% and a diamine in an amount of about 0.01 to about 10 wt.% under substantially dried conditions sufficient to produce a polyalkylene grafted poly(α-olefin-co-maleimide) centipede type polymer. A highly damping centipede type polymer gel composition contains the above polyalkylene grafted poly(α- olefin-co-maleimide) and an extender in an amount sufficient to produce a gel.
