PURPOSE: An image obtain method for testing flat panel display and apparatus thereof is provided to remove moire component. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of:storing display pixel data to image memory, detecting moire of one direction of X-axis or Y-axis, the moire generating in the display pixel data stored in the image memory, forming plurality of data string according to number of pixel included the moire generating period, and removing defect composition by smoothing pixel value of the plurality of data string, evaluating an image data of defect composition, storing the image data of the defect composition to image memory for defect composition, storing smooth image data to a smooth image memory.
