PURPOSE: The washing of interdental space is the important element maintaining the teeth sanitary. But the size of interdental space differs individually and a row of teeth also differs. Determining the approximal passability enables a consultant to establish the optimum interdental brush for the user in a specific and reproducible manner. CONSTITUTION: In order to determine the approximal passability of an interdental space, flexible probing elements (4.1,..., 4.6) of different diameters are introduced into the interdental space. The approximal passability is determined according to the parametric values of the probing element which passes with precision through the interdental space. The parametric values of the interdental space can provide the suitable interdental brush individually. The probing elements (4.1,..., 4.6) can be produced on a probing tip (3) with a continuous or stepped diameter.
