PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a burner of a gasification oven to be replaced without stopping the operation of the oven by installing a plurality of burners at the top of the main body of the oven and by supporting each of the burners at the top with a burner replacement apparatus which can be replaceable while other burners are being operated. SOLUTION: The first and second valves 11 and 18 are closed, and while a gap S is being purged with N2 from the second gas supply means, both the valves are opened. A gas in the main body is introduced into a burner support cylinder 12 and is blown over the underside of a piston member 15, and a burner 6 is caused to slide upward. When the piston member 15 is placed on the taper section of an inserting side 12a, the flowing of the gas out of the cylinder 12 stops. An outer cylinder 14 is purged with N2, and the N2 purge with the second gas supply means is stopped. When the pressure in the outer cylinder 14 becomes higher than that in the main body, the upperside of the piston member 15 is pushed and the burner 6 is caused to slide downward and is placed on the taper section of a thrusting side 12b, thus completing setting of the burner 6. The burner can be removed by reversing these operations.
