PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing a surface skin for a perforated head rest in which a margin to sew up does not come out by an ordinary sewing method and no seam is formed on the skin part where the back of the head of a crew is brought into contact with. SOLUTION: Pieces 1-3 and 6 of a surface skin cut into specified shapes are sewn to form a base body constituting the back face part and the peripheral side face part from the inner peripheral part of the perforated position and then, the inner peripheral edges of this base body and an annular piece 6 of the surface skin are sewn by facing mutual back faces of the skins outward and the outer peripheral edges of the base body and the annular piece 6 of the surface skin are sewn by facing outward the mutual back faces of the surface skins to complete the main part G of the surface skin and in addition, the main part G of the skin is turned outside in to turn the peripheral edge of an opening of the underside up and after the back face of the surface skin is faced outward, the peripheral edge of the opening of the underside of the main part G of the surface skin is sewn with small pieces 7a-7c related to the underside part 7 of the surface skin by facing together both design faces to form an annular cylindrical body A and thereafter, the main part G of the surface skin and the back face of the skin of the underside part 7 of the surface skin being exposed outside are pushed into the annular cylindrical body to turn the surface out.
