PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently separate and recover the liquid solvent in a microorganism culture fluid by using a porous filter separation membrane. SOLUTION: The subject liquid solvent separation and recovery is accomplished according to the following procedure: a number of porous filter separation membranes 9 are disposed in the vapor phase space 7 above a culture vessel 1, while wave-making blades 10 below the culture vessel 1, and a microorganism culture fluid 8 held in the vessel 1 is swung by reciprocatingly turning the blades 10 to effect forced contact of the culture fluid 8 with the porous filter separation membranes 9 to clear them of clogged matter by the aid of the impact of the forced contact, and the liquid solvent is separated and recovered from the culture fluid 8 by the aid of the capillary phenomenon of the membranes 9 while preventing the cloggings.
