A film or television studio camera moves on a stand supported by a set of wheels which guide the camera through a straight line or through a corner as pre-set. The steering mechanism is operated by a steering gear controlled by a chain (6) running over two elliptical drive gears (5, 5'). The chain (6) is maintained under tension (7), and is linked to the appropriate drive shaft (1, 1').
