PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for developing an air bag to avoid unexpected inflation of the air bag, and to provide a system and a method to directly examine a failure of an inflation device and operate other safety device when such a failure occurs. SOLUTION: An air bag development system includes a micro-controller 21, an inflation device 23, and an inflation sensor 24. The inflation sensor 24 is adjacent to the inflation device 23 and monitors the ignition condition of a squib 36 of the inflation device 23. When the squib 36 of the inflation device 23 is operated, the inflation sensor 24 transmits the ignition signal of the inflation device to the micro-controller 21. When there is no ignition signal of the inflation device is present, the backup ignition signal is generated by the micro- controller 21, and its signal is transmitted to a squib 37 for backup.
