PURPOSE: An electronic monitoring device and method thereof are provided to prevent spurious closing force limitation by using an arrangement for setting a limitation value. CONSTITUTION: The electronic controller (12) comprises an arrangement (18) for providing at least one limiting value (16). The arrangement (18) is generated to the limiting value (16) of the closing force. Thereby, the device and process for electronic monitoring of an adjusting drive in a vehicle takes into account a processed tachometric signal (17) in the arrangement (18) providing at least one limiting value (16) for closing force. This serves to prevent spurious closing force limitation.
