PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely mount an oil tank of a hydraulic elevator by providing a transparent peep hole in an area opposite to at least one of a suction pipe or a return pipe on a side wall of the oil tank. SOLUTION: A suction pipe 2 of a hydraulic pump and an oil return pipe 3 from a control valve to control the oil flow are opened in an oil tank 1, and strainers 4A, 4B are mounted thereon. Transparent peep holes 6, 7 comprising transparent plates 6A, 7A, holding frames 6B, 7B, etc., are installed in an area opposite to the strainer 4A and the suction pipe 2, and the strainer 4B and the return pipe 3 on a side wall of the oil tank 1 so that a part in the vicinity of the strainers 4A, 4B can be watched. The transparent plates 6A, 7A comprise a pair of two kinds of guide lines extending in the vertical direction, and are used when an oil seal plug device is used, and the lines are indicated with the interval of the width of an oil sealing plug. Guide lines 10A, 10B are used when a strainer device is used, and indicated with the interval of approximately the outside diameter of the strainers 4A, 4B.
