PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remarkably reduce the weight without impairing the strength of bead cores and the bead clamping force. SOLUTION: A bead core 2 is made up of a core 9 made of monofilament cord 9A and one to four layers of sheaths 10 formed by winding sheath cords 10A spirally around the core 9. The monofilament cord 9A is made of an organic fibrous material having a diameter K of 2.0 to 9.0 mm and the melting point of 200 deg.C or more. The sheath cord 10A is a boodle-twist structure of filaments of aromatic polyamide fiber, and in this case, a fineness based on corrected weight is 10,000 denier or more, the mass of deposit of a bonding resin is 5 to 12% of the weight of the sheath cord, and the twist coefficient Nt is 0.2 to 0.8.
