摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To machine a gear with high efficiency at a low cost. SOLUTION: A hob 16 with at least a flank relief coated with at least one layer of a membrane substantially formed of a composition: (TizAlxM(1-z-x))(1-w)(NyC(1-y))w with a nitride forming element as M, where 0.2<=x<=0.85, 0.25<=y<=1.0, 0.15<=z<=0.8, 0.7<=(z+x)<1.0, and 0.45<=w<=0.55, is used to generate tooth form by dry cutting without using cutting oil at cutting speed set in a range of 80 m/min to 400 m/min. Tooth form is generated improving cutting speed considerably without using an expensive tool made of hard metal or the like so as to machine a gear with high efficiency at a low cost.</p>
