PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce Al-Ti comlex oxide having a sufficiently uniform compsn. in an easy and stable manner. SOLUTION: A substd. aluminum alkoxide obtd. by substituting a chelating agent for an alkoxyl group of an aluminum alkoxide is mixed with a titanium alkoxide in an org. solvent to prepare a soln., the alkoxides are hydrolyzed and drying and firing are carried out. Since the substd. aluminum alkoxide and the titanium alkoxide are hydrolyzed at about the same rate, the formation of free Al2O3, is suppressed and the objective uniform Al-Ti complex oxide is produced.
