ON-VEHICLE TYPE DISTANCE MEASURING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately measure distance between destinations by detecting the number of pulses generated by a rotary encoder and calculating the travel distance of a wheel. SOLUTION: A rotary encoder 33 which presses the wheel 6 for measurement against a road surface across a contacting/separating device 4 having a kick spring 12 and detects the rotational frequency, when the wheel 6 for measurement rotates abutting against the road surface is fitted to the bottom part of a vehicle for measurement and the number of pulses generated by the rotary encoder 33 is detected to accurately measure the distances between destinations.
