摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge tube for display capable of efficiently removing undesired components (impurity gases) remaining in a plasma discharge area, thereby preventing abnormal conditions of plasma discharge characteristics from occurring during plasma discharge. SOLUTION: In a discharge tube for display which comprises a first substrate 1; a second substrate 2 disposed opposite the first substrate 1; a plural types of first electrodes disposed approximately parallel with each other on the first substrate 1; second electrodes disposed approximately parallel with each other on the second substrate 2 so as to be perpendicular to the first electrodes; and a discharge area filled with a discharge gas formed within the area where the first substrate 1 and the second substrate 2 are opposed with each other, a non-evaporative discharge getter 15 is located in an exhaust pipe 12 disposed on the periphery of the discharge area, which non-evaporative discharge getter 15 exhibits an inactive adsorbing characteristic with respect to the discharge gas and an active adsorbing characteristic with respect to the impurity gases other than the discharge gas, and the position of the non- evaporative discharge getter 15 is set within 50 mm from an exhaust pipe sealing portion 12F. The non-evaporative discharge getter 15 is activated by the heat generated at the time of sealing the sealing portion 12F to adsorb and remove impurity gases in the discharge tube for display.
