PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxygen sensor having excellent responsiveness. SOLUTION: A detection element 30 is composed by arranging second and third electrodes 36, 37 in a mutually opposed state respectively through a first solid electrolyte layer 34 and a second solid electrolyte layer 35 interposed on both sides of a board-like first electrode 33, so that transfer of an oxygen ion between the first electrode 33 and the second electrode 36 and also between the first electrode 33 and the third electrode 37 can be detected. As the second and third electrodes 36, 37 are mutually opposedly arranged respectively through the first and the second solid electrolyte layers 34, 35 interposed on the both sides of the board-like first electrode 33, both surfaces become detection surfaces 31, 32 equally, therefore, directivity is expanded in two directions. As either of the second and the third electrodes 36, 37 faces the flow of exhaust gas, contact with the exhaust gas happens early and a response time becomes short. |
