PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the best use of a space in the height direction and, at the same time, to sharply improve the value of the proportionality constant which decides the relation between torque and copper losses by combinedly using toroidal winding and magnetic-powder expanded core sections. SOLUTION: A stator is formed of a magnetic-powder core material and a plurality of riblike core sections 6 is integrally formed with an annular core section 5 in such a way that the core sections 6 radially extend at prescribed intervals in the peripheral direction. Then a coil 8 is wound toroidally around the core section 5 in each slot formed between a pair of riblike core sections 6 which are adjacently arranged in the peripheral direction. In addition, magnetic-powder expanded core sections 13 and 13 are molded integrally with each riblike core section 6 and its counter core section 9, in such a way that the core sections 13 are laminated upon the core sections 6 and 9 from both sides in the axial direction. The total core height of each expanded core section 13 and its counter core section 9 in the axial direction is made higher than the core height of the annular core section 5. Moreover, the total core height of the core sections 9 and 13 is made higher than the wound height of the coil 8 in the axial direction.
