SOLUTION: In this image display device comprising at least a front face plate 1 having a fluorescent member and an electron accelerating electrode formed thereon, a back face plate 2 having an electron source disposed opposite to the front face plate 1, and spacers 4 formed of atmospheric pressure resistant support members interposed between the front face plate 1 and the back face plate 2, the spacers 4 are secured to the first face plate 1 and the back face plate 2 via chemical reaction type inorganic adhesives 7. After the application of the chemical reaction type inorganic adhesives 7, the spacers 4 are positioned at the front face plate 1 or the back face plate 2, followed by fixation. Furthermore, an operating temperature at this time is preferably set to 200 deg.C or lower.
