A simple method for the purifn. of elastase (I) from swine pancreas with higher yields includes ultrafiltration of the aq. soln. contg. (I) to impurities and to adjust the elec. cond. to <= 3 millimhos/cm, adjustment of the PH to 2-5, and subsequent pptn. of (I). starting from 1kg of minced pancreas, 1.2kg of (I) having an elastin decompn. activity of 150 units/mg is obtained in 8 steps by this method.
