摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to make the alignment tolerance of optical coupling of optical fibers and optical semiconductor elements wider, construction similar and a production cost lower by constituting the optical fibers and the optical elements in such a manner that both are optically coupled via through- holes. SOLUTION: Solder 14 is placed on the gouging of a stem 12. Next, an element array 10 with the photodetecting surface of photodetectors 13 faced upward is stacked thereon. Further, a reflection mirror array 11 with its exit window faced downward is placed thereon. The photodetector array 10 and the reflection mirror array 11 are fixed by the solder 14 to the stem 12. On the other hand, the nine optical fibers 16 are inserted into a square hole previously formed at a fiber holder 17 and the end faces of the fibers are previously made flush with each other. Finally, the fiber holder 17 with the optical fibers is brought into tight contact with the stem 12 by making their end faces flush with each other and the circumference thereof is welded and fixed by YAG welding in such a manner that the contact surfaces may be fixed. The optical coupling of the optical fibers 16 and the photodetectors 13 via the through-hole is thus made possible.
