ERROR CORRECTING METHOD AND DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an error correcting device which is used for a CD reproducing device and can correct an error appropriately for data read out from a CD in the case of not only audio data but also non-audio data, consequently both of a click noise and an illegal character can be dissolved appropriately. SOLUTION: A first error correcting circuit 14 corrects an error of audio data conforming to the prescribed algorithm. A second error correcting circuit 15 corrects an error of non-audio data conforming to other algorithm being different from the above mentioned algorithm. A switching circuit 16 outputs an output of either of the first error correcting circuit 14 or the second error correcting circuit 15 as a demodulated signal in which an error is effectively corrected in accordance with a switching signal from the switching signal generating circuit 13.
