PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of after-images by suppressing reverse twisting and to make a response speed better and an aperture ratio higher with a TFT drive liquid crystal display device having an IPS structure. SOLUTION: The electrodes on the upper side and the electrodes on the lower side of the auxiliary capacitors of the electrode structure of the IPS mode, in which the switching electrodes of the one pole and the switching electrodes of the other pole are arranged in parallel and the auxiliary capacitors are arranged non-parallel with the switching elements, are formed to different shapes. More particularly the auxiliary capacitors in proximity to the regions where reverse the twisting occurs is desirably formed to the shapes obtd. by cutting off the portions of the upper electrode in contact with the light transparent regions 110, 112.
