PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nuclear fuel assembly responding to high burnup capable of increasing the reactor shutdown margin in the case of being installed in a core where control rod side water gap width and opposite control rod side water gap width are nearly mutually the same. SOLUTION: Fuel rods 10 are arranged in a square grid of 10 rows and 10 lines and one square cylinder water rod 21 is arranged in the region capable of arranging 3×3 fuel rods in the center. In the case the fuel assembly is separated into regions of control rod 24 side and opposite of control rod side by a diagonal line 13a, the water rods 21 are arranged with bias to the control rod side.
