PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fully reduce size for use as an optical device and to facilitate manufacturing by performing formation with a material for transmitting light, forming a circular cross section, and at the same time, making the refractive index in the direction of the radius of a section different so that a light beam can be propagated along a center axis. SOLUTION: When a light beam is applied to an optical fiber Of1, it is branched by a T-shaped coupling formed by optical fibers Of1, Of3, and Of5, is propagated through optical waveguides 41 and 42, is combined by a T-shaped coupling formed by optical fibers Of2, Of4, and Of6, and then is emitted from the optical fiber Of2. Since the optical waveguides 41 and 42 have different refractive indexes, a light beam through the optical waveguides 41 and 42 has different phases and are combined to cause interference. Therefore, by laminating and arranging the optical fibers Of1-Of6 while each end part is matched with each being twisted by nearly 90 degrees and optically coupling them, an interferometer can be easily obtained.
