<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the lowering of brightness and contrast by preventing the lowering of brightness due to contamination of liquid crystal caused by columnar spacers and the generation of an electric short-circuit between substrates. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with polarizing plates POL1, POL2 and a driving means for applying a driving voltage to a group of electrodes.
