PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method, with which a sound cast slab having little center segregation over the whole length thereof from start of the casting to completion of the casting can be obtd. SOLUTION: In a continuous casting method, in which the cast slab containing unsolidified part is bulged and rolling reduction is executed till completing the solidification, to each roll in the bulging zone and the rolling reduction zone, a detecting instrument for detecting the ascending/descending position of the roll and hydraulic cylinder for ascending/descending the roll, provided with a detecting instrument of the pressure loaded on a piston rod, are arranged. The ascending/descending position of the roll and the pressure on the piston rod are detected and controlled so that the detected values become each of target values. Further, the completing position of the solidification is estimated from the pressure detected value loaded on the piston rod for roll in the rolling reduction zone, and at least one side among the casting speed and the secondary water flow rate is controlled so that the completing position of the solidification becomes the upstream side in the casting direction from the last roll in the rolling reduction zone.
