When a driver is about to change lanes to overtake another vehicle, conventional door-mounted rear view mirrors do not cover a dead spot in the intended destination lane. The present mirror alters its angle to view the dead spot when the direction indicator light is operated. The mirror resumes the normal angle when the direction indicator is canceled. The mirror can also be operated remotely in the conventional way.
