PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to make the representation of gradation smoothly by deciding data for discharging a black ink as data for discharging a single pixel in response to the arrangement of pixels which indicate records from among adjacent sets of pixel data. SOLUTION: An output from a gamma conversion circuit 509 is entered to a binaryzation circuit 510 to distribute variable density as specified upon each of density signals such as C, M, Y (cyan, magneta, yellow) as a table data array. Further C, M, Y data for a deep color ink corresponding to heads 30C, 30M, 30Y and c, m, y data for a pale color ink corresponding to heads 30c, 30m, 30y are generated in compliance with the density values shown by each of the density signals. Then the C, M, Y data and the c, m, y data are converted to binary coded data. In this case, when the set mode is a monochromatic printing mode, a rebinaryzation process is performed to discharge only the ink from a black color head 30k and three c, m, y color inks are superposed one each other to print pale black dots. |
