PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To assure escape routes to a plural number of directions at the time of a fire without providing respective dwelling units with external balconies, to surely prevent the intrusion of smoke, etc., into the escape routes and to assure smooth escape and fire extinguishing activity. SOLUTION: The plurality of dwelling units are arranged in at least in the upper part an voids 10 partitioned with transparent glass 10a are formed in the central part of the building at the stories arranged with these dwelling units. Corridors 14 are arranged to circumscribe these voids and are provided with lobbies 12, 17 facing these corridors and communication with fire escapes 11, 16. The escape balconies 19 facing outdoors and communicating with the corridors are installed at the outer peripheral part of the building. Further, the plurality of dwelling units 15 respectively having a plural number of outlets and inlets 25 and not having the verandas are arranged at the circumferences of the corridors. In addition, the dwelling units are provided with ventilation systems and the lobbies are provided with air supply systems. Exhaust systems for exhausting the feed air or smoke of the excess components based on differences between the air supply rates by the air supply systems and the ventilation rates by the ventilation systems are arranged between the corridors and the escape balconies.
