PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clamp method obtained desired clamp force by converting pneumatic pressure to hydraulic pressure without using a hydraulic device of a hydraulic pump/motor, etc., when using a hydraulic cylinder to obtain prescribed clamp force for fixing an object to be welded on a lower electrode or under a state stronger hydraulic pressure is required in clamping the object to be welded. SOLUTION: When actuating a clamp device to clamp a work to be worked with hydraulic cylinder force, use of air for ascending/descending a hydraulic cylinder 8 makes ascending/descending actions of the hydraulic cylinder 8 fast and smooth, use of a pneumatic/hydraulic converter 7 only when clamping the work can generate larger clamping force.
